Herbie is a 1985 double-decker bus. Herbie has had many different changes in his life span but has come to us in the last two months where we have decided to give him a whole new makeover….
We have transformed ‘Herbie The Rustic Bus’ into a completely different type of vehicle. Herbie now doubles as an office space and even a chillout area with a bar!
Herbie has a working space upstairs and a dining area with the front of the bus still having loads of space left to use as a whatever you desire! Downstairs you have a lounge/seating area which doubles up as 2 sleeping spaces with under storage, a brand new television (with built in DVD player) and then theres two sleeping pods and a bar area (an all important part after a long day in the office) with two stools.
The process to get ‘Herbie The Rustic Bus’ to where he is today has been a long one but a total labor of love.
We stripped out all the old seats and replaced the floor with some rustic pine flooring, this continues throughout the bus, upstairs and downstairs, even the bus ceilings have been clad, painted and distressed to add to the vintage/retro feel. The whole bus has had electrics fitted, upstairs and downstairs. Plenty of sockets and the bang on trend industrial style conduit lighting which lines both sides of the bus. The bus is very very easy to hook up to the electric , just simply plug it into the mains with a hook up the same as a caravan.
Upstairs we have created a long double desk from some reclaimed pine doors and an old school science worktop, with two Ercol chairs.
At the back of the bus we have kept some of the funky seats and added two bistro tables to create a great dining area which also allows you great views while you eat. There is an upcycled sideboard made from a vintage army trunk and an retro set of old school drawers for all your business paperwork. At the other end is a vintage, double children’s school desk and two chairs.
We have tried to leave as much as we can original as Herbie is just too cool as is. The stairway has had some vintage French movie posters added to the walls.
Downstairs there is a U-shaped seating area to the back of the bus which benefits with under-storage. A wine/magazine paper rack on the back wall. Brand new tv mounted on the wall so you can kick back and relax. Towards the front of the bus we have made two sleeping pods, while opposite is a great bar made from reclaimed and upcycled materials. Further along is the original luggage rack, great storage potential. Right at the front and completely untouched is the drivers cab….. yep, all you need to do is hop in and take Herbie to wherever you want to go……
